Track 3 Earns Its Name

We have a new delivery from New York, and it’s an important one.  Patrick (who plays Abram) has taken his first crack at singing track 3.  In addition to this, he also gave us a banjo track.

I will say that BOTH of the vocalists (Patrick and Nicole) have expressed their malcontent with these recordings.  Patrick wants to take some liberties with the melody and record a much softer sounding track.  We’re all still learning garageband and recording techniques, so he still has to play around with mic position and levels.

Nicole, again, wants to sing a much lower melody which I think will sound great with her voice. I also need to re-record the guitar, of course. And let’s not forget the rough banjo we got going on.  Have a listen.

Overall though, I think this is a great rough draft that captures the final structure of the song.  Now, it’s just a matter of fine tuning the parts!  It’s important that all of the artists involved with this track are happy with their contributions.

And finally, I think we’ve reached another major milestone here, as track 3 becomes our first song with an official name!  This song shall henceforth be referred to as The Binding.

The inspiration is the biblical tale where God commands Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac.  Abraham complies, only to have God stop him at the very last moment (the lord was such a joker back then…) This story is called The Binding of Isaac.

wait, jk! lol

jk, LOL!

I must say, The Binding is a pretty metal name for a gentle acoustic lullaby.  I’m quite pleased with that.
